Victor Hugo wrote elegies about Etretat(France-the Normandy coast)as early as 1835:"It is the grandest architecture there is.."...He was speaking,of course,of the chalk cliffs that plunge into the English Channel...In the early 19th century Etretat was already earning it's reputation as a charming Norman seaside resort that was attracting renowned artists in droves..Over time Monet,Corot,Courbet and later,Matisse spent considerable time painting the majestic cliffs..You can see here the beach and the Amont Cliff..At the top is a charming little church in front of which you have a breathtaking view of the cliffs opposite you..

This went straight to favorites. What a fantastic scene this is. I like the way the church stands atop the cliff. It almost looks like a finger pointing to the sky, or should I say heavens. I appreciate the narrative with a touch of history. I'm totally impressed.

Outstanding! The subject the color the composition are excellent. The inclusion of the foreground vegetation adds depth to the capture and those colors are so alive.
You should be paid by the Tourist Department of France because you make me what to go.

I wonder, if you took this at the evening, since there is a kind of pink light on the cliffs. However, it is an amazing view of them and I think the little church there is also very nice.

Thats a very popular beach by the looks of it. I do wonder though, what that structure is by the church on the cliff top. I have to agree with Hekirby, you do so much to promote the places you visit with your wonderful pictures my friend. Another wonderful capture from you.

Of course it's easy to see by your upload why so many famous painters flocked to this beach to paint..not only is the scenery unique and beautiful, but they got to soak up all those rays in the meantime!! Congrats on this one!
