The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.

I hope for the kayaker that this picture was taken in the summer. If not, he underestimates the danger of hypothermia. Moreover, it is a very nice picture, Christian.

That appears to be a 19- or 20-footer, longer and more stable to get over the ocean swells. This guy is likely in good shape because the bigger the kayak the more strength is needed. Being extremely landlocked, here in the middle of North America, my kayaks are 12-foot, termed touring kayaks. Long enough to be stable but short enough to be manageable for lakes and rivers. I'm looking at that pole and its base sticking out of the water and I'm guessing you shot this to one side in a bay or at the mouth of a river leading into the ocean. I've spent time in the Pacific and that swell to the left of the base has to be from a wave; the tide can sometimes come in fast enough to do this but it's rare. Good, clear shot with just the right contrast to let us see his face and the physical nature of the pole and its base. -Nik

I would feel most tempted to manipulate this image to get in the result a picture of a kayak and a submarine approaching it while emerging from the depth :)
