Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum)is a very old species of bulb dating back to the 16th century. It is very invasive and pops up everwhere in the Spring and early summer. With its little star like flowers and stripey leaves it is a welcome addition in my garden although some people consider it a weed.
Taken with Canon 450D.

I like how it goes slowly to softness, LE.
Like a song fading away.

I like this presentation very much and the composition and lighting are also quite nice. This sure doesn't look like a weed.

This is weed? Are they normal? Wonderful flower with so beautiful name. Soft and lovely. Excellent job, Lyn.

They are too good to be called weeds Lyn! I like how the focus gradually weakens from left to right here.

Mrs b and I went to a very large garden centre a few miles away this afternoon and they already have a big chunck of their Christmas decorations on display so AStar of Bethlehem would fit in perfectly.
A beautiful and well composed image.

This is a real beauty, Lyn, especially the one on the far left. When I'm shooting something like this, multiple subjects with separate DOF, I will try to shoot each of them, from a tripod, so that each is in focus in their own exposure (without moving the camera's position). Then later I will bring all three up in Photoshop and blend them so they all have the same DOF. It takes a little planning and work but the result is worth it. -Nik

If it's a weed it certainly is a beautiful one.
Great composition and presentation, Lyn.

I like this a lot...and, coming out of the dark as you have shown them, it is easy to see where they got the name. There is much to be said about beautiful old flowers, and even more about beautiful old "weeds"*...and I love to see them showcased.
