Taken from the same spot I often capture the sunset from. This was at 9am this morning. Panasonic TZ60, with a lot of zoom :)
Shortly afterwards the weather changed and the mountains became invisible in the mist.
Mien Gott! It's a New Zealand travel poster. Either that or one helluva reason to go visit there. You say they were eventually covered by mist? What just popped into my head (a common distraction for me) was the thought of setting up a tripod to shoot just such a photo, seeing approaching mist or clouds, then remaining there to trip the shutter every few minutes (depending on the speed of the mist or clouds) to capture their progression. Then I could could pick out ones that show the it the best, trimming them all to panos like this and placing them in a line from top to bottom to create a single photo montage of that progression... just a thought. I envy folks like you, Lyn, who have scenes like this right in your own neighborhood. Oy!
