The Devils Bridge Wetland Lagoon, North Otago, New Zealand.
Previously an ephemeral lake, since the installation of a weir the area has become a permanent lagoon protected by a QEII covenant.
There is a "disappearing stream" in the limestone rocks on the right of this photo where the water drains into an underwater cave system. It provides important habitat for many wetland bird species.
This is on private land and the walking track around the lagoon was constructed by the land owner and volunteers, along with many plantings.
It is open to the public free of charge. We spent a peaceful time walking the track last Friday, and were the only humans there.
