Common Eyelash fungus - Despite being "common" and brightly coloured, I've never seen them before, they are about 4mm in diameter. A young relative has taken an interest in mushrooms, so I will post some.
Highly intrigued by this image, I just had to enlarge it and then zoom way in to understand that those black *eyelashes* were not simply striations of coloring, but actually a physical element, entirely 3D. A few of them look a bit like a human tongue, but only my cat-crazy brother might possibly have hair on his tongue like this. I did mention that he is cat-crazy, right?
