At first I thought it was a church, but when I got home I looked it up and found it to be a little school. It had been moved into the town and was used as a Voting sight. It was not used as a country school any longer.
I have driven through Iowa several times in recent years (visiting friends in Decorah and Cedar Rapids), spotting buildings like this one, something we clearly have in common, and many of them have been repurposed as this one has. Your use of the tree line as a mirror element of the school, offsetting the school to one side, and the use of focus, light, and color manipulation, gives this one the aesthetic quality of artwork, and not just another photograph. I believe most people would be delighted to have it framed and mounted on a wall in their home. Lovely, Carol.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Carol, during the time this small country church was used as a school, the church bell has been maintained. Therefore, if it was also used to announce the start of school, the school children could no longer provide a cheap excuse for being late, 😁 . Good reuse of this beautiful and characteristic country building. Photograph and editing are perfect again.
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!
