As apposed to Scottish pipers ..The Northumbrian pipes are played by pumping the air in through the use of the arm..They are more high pitched than the Bagpipes.Go to Our Kate...R.
Richie, by the look in their eyes one can see that these pipers are very serious in performing their musical art. It's a pity that Caedes can't provide us with sound to hear the characteristic Northumbrian music. Good portrait of these musicians!

The sound grows on one - by the end of the piece I was ready to listen to more. That's a nice bit of tweed/tartan they are wearing in your super portrait of these two
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
From listening to your link, Richie, I think the pipers have a more mellow sound as well, not quite as screechy as bagpipes. Thanks for making this distinction for us; I hadn't even thought about it before and, like Lyn, I'm on the hunt for more.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Great capture.
