This scene was taken just to the side of the falls. The whole area is rock like this and to get around the site you are climbing around on the rock and wading through these small pools.

I googled this place BTK and wish I had gone there when my son lived in Joplin. I would go back in the fall because some of the shots with the trees in background look good as well.
