I'm somewhat disappointed (☺) because I was anticipating that the choice for the new contest topic would be 'Wow - That's big', so I went on August 24th, 2017 on a maritime photo shoot to find a suitable subject, but the last two days the choice of a contest topic has turned into 'Breaking the Rules'. Because the picture that I preliminary had in mind to post as contest entry, doesn't break the 'rules of thirds', I'll post it as 'common image' now.

To prevent any misunderstanding: of course I respect the democratic process for voting a topic!!

Depicted is the container vessel 'YM Width' coming from the port of Antwerp, Belgium and now, when I took this picture, outward bound on the North Sea to Southampton (GB).

Some data:

Operator: Yang Min Marine Transport;

Wow, that is big Cornelius. The now largest container ship "MOL Triumph" (20,000 TEU) was in Hamburg recently but I don't have the patience to wait to get a full view of it. Your shot is super and would have been a fitting entry for the contest.

It amazes me to know how the hell they can 'float' with all those items on top!
And 23 knots is quite a speed too!.....

Yang Ming - "sun and lightness" is in itself a contender for "wow - it's big," considering how many vessels it operates. You should have voted multiple times, Mr C, and got that topic over the top. If you would have, you would also have succeeded with the "Breaking the Rules" topic by voting more than once. Oh my, this has gotten a bit confusing!

Too bad "breaking the rules," made a late surge SEA. This would have been a winner for sure.
Thanks for posting even though the contest was snafu-ed.

I found a completely parallel side view of this ship and prorated the size of the open sections on it;
--From the bow to that gray wall, that space could hold a T. Rex kissing a Triceratops.
--From the gray wall to the tall white command tower, that space could hold the Nebraska State capitol building, laying on its side.
--From the white command tower to the white stern tower, that space could hold an American football field, with a blue whale on one end and a giant squid on the other as cheerleaders.
--From the white stern tower to the stern, that space could accommodate the wingspan of a 747.

It's a biggee, alright.

I'm with you - thought Wow - That's Big would have made a fabulous and this would make a spectacular entry. He really has a huge load of containers plus like the action of the waves coming up from the front.
