This image was taken by me on October 16th, 2016 in a village, called 'Arnemuiden', situated on the peninsula Walcheren, Zeeland, The Netherlands. So, its an 'oldie'. Please read the 'story' below to know the reason that I post it now:

When I returned to this spot, in order to capture some other images there, I saw that the boat with flowers was gone.

I was curious for the reason, so I did some 'research'. It turned out that the boat was gone (sunk), probably caused by rust because of the lack of maintenance for its hull. One couldn't tell me if there would consist plans for a replacement.

If not, the inhabitants of the depicted apartments for elderly people certainly will miss their fine view, as I do as well.

Although I do not know if it was your submission, C, or someone else's from Holland, but I remember seeing this before, thinking at the time that it was such a great idea. This photo, taken a bit closer to the boat than the oneI saw before, has the added benefit for me of allowing us the architecture of the pink apartments in the background. I think if a home is going to be painted pink, it absolutely has to be of this Art Deco-esque style, the sort of architecture and coloring I have come to expect to go hand-in-hand, in Miami, Florida. It being found in Holland makes it that much more special. Love it, and I'm hoping that someone has the impetus to locate another old boat... and seals the hull properly. ;oP

That made a terrific 'eye-catching' piece C....

Shame that it had sunk, it made a good composition in the image..

I have never been there but I too, Mr C, miss it and hope that they replace it. Like islands being built in the south China Seas for reasons lesser than for the benefit of the human soul, this boat was an island for all that is good, for nature's beauty alone.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I think this was a terrific idea and I'm sorry to hear it is gone. The elderly in those apartments cannot do gardens any longer but could certainly enjoy this - what a shame.

A shame it is no longer here as it does make for a unique and beautiful floral display...glad you were able to catch this one before it disappeared...terrific shot, SEA.
