This capture was taken from the 'Sint-Michielsbrug' (Saint Michael's Bridge) in Ghent, in my neighbor country Belgium. This bridge is a fairly young bridge because it dates from the beginning of the last century.

Before this bridge was built there was a swing bridge on this site. The bridge is a popular spot for tourists.

From this bridge one has a view of almost all tourist sights of Ghent. One can see from this bridge the Saint-Nicholas Church, the Belfry of Ghent, the Saint-Baaf's Cathedral, the Saint-Michael's Church and the Graslei and Korenlei, sights that already could be seen in the previous contributions of this series.

---What is that red post thing at the lower center area?---

Bruce, in the red box (the color is deliberately chosen) hangs a lifebuoy. One can throw the buoy to people who have unfortunately ended up in the water. For that reason, the lifebuoy is attached to the box with a rope. This rope can be seen if you enlarge the photograph. If the drowning person manages to grab the buoy, the buoy thrower can pull the rope towards him and try to get the drowning person to land.

Great picture, Cornelius! I certainly hope no one falls into the river, but how nice of them to supply a handy lifesaver.

This series just keeps getting better and better, rather leaving me at a loss for words, and a temporary cessation of breathing.

A-mazing.
