Standing tall among the flowers, from the links he seems to have made his contribution via spreading a kind of sewing machine, which led to an industrial revolution. It was the equivalent of intellectual property..but he seems to have brought benefit and honor with it...though he upset the English...no need to pose with a musket....
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
Although he lived only 52 years, it appears he was a pioneer in an industry that employed many thousands. It is appropriate that he received this honor as well as that of Napoleons. It is also appropriate that your camera angle places him between two such pieces of architecture, making him the bridge between very old and somewhat modern. The OCD element in me, though, cannot help but wish I had been there to nudge your right shoulder a little, C., so as to place Lievens figure exactly in that space between them (symmetry is my curse, you know, but it need not be that for others ;o).
