All the fall photos lately reminded me of a poem I had to memorize as a kid in school. I had to look it up on the net since of course I had lost a good part of it by now ____________ October's Party :............................................................................. ...October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came- The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. ~George Cooper ........................................................................... This picture of a farm surrounded by fall colors & soybean fields was taken on a drive through NW Iowa recently.

A beautiful sight Dan and a fond reminder of how wonderful the colors of Fall really are. Outstanding composition and framing and the 'view' is just grand of the cloudless sky as well. Terrific post and thanks for sharing the poem as well.

I agree with Anita. I really like the framing effect you've used on this :) It does a great job of highlighting the impact of the colorful trees and the golden wheat in the foreground. Of course that lucious blue sky helps, as October's bright blue weather comes along at precisely the right time to compliment the golds, oranges, reds and yellows of autumn. I like the view of the red barn, but I guess most everyone knows I'm a sucker for a farm scene.. brilliantly composed, and I'm glad you remembered the poem as well..hehehehe...I like the part about Professor Wind leading the band....... :)PJ

Hi Dan, this is so totally lovely, so soft, so elagant, and inviting, I can hardly find the approciate words for describing this image! In most fall images, the colors are strong, vivid and informal, while this is exactly the opposite! I think of serenity rather than of dancing colorful leaves to a song I sing! These colors are softly vibrant! A terrific skillfully taken photo, while having a tender thought in mind, am I close? I love the poem, as I love to see the relationship between verse and photo that the individual artist chooses to blend! I like this image a lot Dan, Sincerely, Marilyn

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand. ~Margery Williams The Velveteen Rabbit~
