Point Loma, California, USA. From Point Loma, the view across the harbor entrance to San Diego is impressive. Home of the US Navy Pacific Fleet, the fleet base is to the left of the image, and North Island Naval Air Base is visible in the middle of the photo. To the right is Coronado Island, with a beautiful beach and very elegant old hotel. The city skyline is framed by the distant Laguna Mountains.

You captured many sites of San Diego in this image, Thad. I had the opportunity to work there, off and on over a three year period and I came to know the area very well.

Thad, after enlarging this image I can see a just under the depicted navy ships the NAS (Naval Air Station) North Island as well.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.
All I really remember of San Diego, from my time there in Navy boot camp, is the zoo, a wooden sailing ship tied up at the wharf, and a trainer Destroyer that sat at the edge of our base, the USS Recruit (TDE-1). It was right along the civilian highway that became a causeway at about that same spot.
