This young'un was free-n-wild, lying atop some dried grass in a lake. Approx 50 feet away was watchful Mommy....{ naturally I may post pics of her too....:) Took this on my recent photo-shoot / a hike out in a natural wooded area surrounded by lakes. What a beauty...!

hahaha yes.....many do end up living in retention ponds that are around apts and condos....and that's due to OVER-DEVELOPEMENT of land...so hahaha when somebody's poodle gets munched....{ just keep the kids on a leash!} :)

THIS youngster lives far enough into the woods it will hopefully live a nice and normal people-free existence...
SIZE of this one was approx 3 feet}

wow what a cool shot
once again you do it with your nature shots ... we're not worthy!
the 'gatore is near perfect good lines and so sharp
the reeds or grasses are a bit burnt out and over exposed but its not really a biggie since all our eyes are on those that spiny back and skin and the teeth anyway !

Well done terri

The natural colors of the little baby is what attracted me to this composition right away. But of even more concern is your tramping thru alligator country. Those dudes can camaflouge themselves so easy. Careful girl. This is a good capture. Hopefully it was from a distance.

Amazing how something so cute when small can grow up to be so ferocious.
Big or little, I'm a big chicken when it comes to getting within 100 miles of something like this. Thank you Terri for giving us a safe way to view these critters. Your nature postings are absolutely excellent.

Cute little bugger!!!
We had a 7 footer in the lake behind my house this summer. Unfortunately, it ate one of our Swans and a trapper had to be brought in for the safety of Children and backyard pets. He said "once a gator kills, that's now his lake, and he's there for good".
Keep an eye on Momma!! :-)

Wonderful photo, Terri! Despite the bright sun and shadows, your detail is excellent. Be careful though, this baby may only 3 ft, but I bet it's bite is already pretty fierce (not to mention Mama's!!)

Great shot Terri ... Gators bring out the best of your camera skills. Your love for these creatures comes through the lens. Now about that "pretty baby" title. "Pretty" I can live with but "baby" goes a tad too far. 3ft long is stretching it ... wouldn't care to breast feed this youngster ... not that that would be germane in my case.
