aka snakebird....:0 This anhinga looks strikingly familiar....or is it the grass....same spot almost that I snapped the little blue heron shot in my gallery...:) *anhingas are actually nicknamed snake-bird because they swim underwater {lightning fast}...and their heads/necks come up and look very much like snakes..

This shot has great energy to it Terri. I love the way the light picks out the wing feather detail. I believe these Anhingas are related to Cormorants and sre some of the most ancient birds - reflected in those wing feathers looking more like scales [one step up from the dinosaur?] I think I'll have to start a new folder 'Wildlife of the Everglades' ;o)
