Beautiful winter shot and rural road infrequently travelled...do I detect a little textured layering in this image?...good entry for the contest...do you know how to enter it?...if not let me know and I'll explain...best of luck.

Beautiful winter scene. What is intriguing to me is how you create such crisp focus in the foreground and yet the background is textured like a painting. -Perhaps that is your secret.
Aw what a beautiful photography this is this would make a great Christmas card my friend. The detail composition and colours plus light is outstanding .Also my friend the depth of field is superb as well. You go ahead and enter this in the composition it is breath taking my fiend,I wish I could capture colours like you do.
At first I thought it was a road in Sicily leading to where Don Ciccio had his headquarters. It is so well done and the Hoar Frost on the trees is magnificent. Great lead in and the colors are amazing. Looks like FDR was present. It would make a great entry. Ciao
Great minds think alike and great souls love the like tints and hues - these are mine beloved ones - blue, white and golden. Conclusion: we two are just great. Oh, all right, you are great and I am just behind you :) Faved and saved with just one tiny objection as to the square shape - you know that it does not fit best my screen ... LOL SAM & SAAB
No possible about it, Doug. It would make a great entry and a beautiful print as well. The dark hills or mountains in the distance contrast well with all the frost, making it pop right off the screen and, while the bare dirt in the road shows some travel, the character of the road shows it's very selective about who it lets through. I say go for it. -Nik

Wow! Very nice. This is the kind of picture we all ride around in the country for hours trying to find. I'm glad someone found it, lol. Best of luck to you.
I've just been looking through the competition entries for a "Road Less Travelled" & though I'm tired of looking at winter snow scenes yours is an exception Doug. Two things that sets it apart is the bluish background, & it's rustic charm.
I'd be very surprised if this wasn't a winning entry.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
love the off centre shot of this...and no exposure problems in the highlights either!
