The trains are all done running here and I was surprised to find there were tracks on this bed. Most of them are now cleared for snowmobile use in the winter time.
That's an awesome photo. I love the angle that you took it from. I wish it could have been a little less blury near the foreground, but overall, great shot!
Ridin' the rail. That was my first thought on seeing this wonderfully perspected shot. I am fascinated with trains and train tracks. The view is great from here and the splendor of fall can still be seen in the background. Nicely done.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Did you put your "ear" to the rail to "see" if anything was coming? I like oxymorons, sorry. Reminds me of when I was a lad. We had railroad running through our property. Guess that's why I love trains. Sure miss them. Great perspective and composition.

It's a little sad but the rails-to-trails program here in VA is working very nicely and snowmobile trails? Wonderful idea for your neck of the woods!! ~Mary~

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
Cool picture...an interesting twist on the "usual" train tracks picture that tends to look down the centerline between the two rails. I think foreground focus would make this picture stronger though, since that's really where there is the most availability for details.
They do these kinds of angle shots for the movies. This is a professional shot. There is no trains but it shows a lot of movement, depth, the earth colors. you even have textures of the rocks(ouch)and the wood planks. you got it all in this image. Your really getting serious about your work when you get down! lol, and I hope the rocks didn't hurt to much.
Now PJ....do not going lying on railway tracks just to get us another great photo! grrr! lol! ...I like it though - I always wondered what it looked like from down there! ;)

I personally prefer the DOF the way it is with the foreground a bit blurred because it brings the eye off toward the distance as it should be in this shot. If it were opposite it would change the whole subject matter and just wouldn't be as effective. This is very creative photography PJ! I'm very impressed! Everything is good about it! Depth, clarity, composition, interest, color, light...
Very interesting. I really love how you took this PJ. The angle is great, and you got such a great shot off without losing clarity. I am glad you didn't stay there too long though.
Fantastic angle and composition on this one PJ. I feel as if I were there....I love the colored landscape in the background. I find it sad too about this loss of trains, this loss of a romantic period. Excellent work. :)
PJ, I love the perspective of this shot. I'd take some lying dowm shots but cold weather is coming and I would still be laying there in the spring. Not as nimble as I used to be. lol. Great shot. Terry

Simply love the angle and perspective here. The ant's-eye view makes it intriguing. Though it's too bad the trains no longer run... I used to take the train all the way to Fairlee in days gone by...
