I've had my eye on this old dinghy for a while, taking pictures of it in all kinds of weather... this time the light was right, but I almost didn't notice the little kingfisher perched on its bow.... a very lucky shot!
Very well composed, Mary. This has a nicely weighted feel. I really like the perpective here as well, with a sense of looking past the boat, not just "at" it.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
I didn't realize boats had hoods, let alone ornaments. I guess it's the season for ornaments. I love the colors of the grasses contrasting with the boat. If that's the Kingfisher, those two old buoys out in the water must be Amos and Andy. lol You probably never heard of them. Love the lighting and the hint of snow on far bank. This should do well Mary. Happy Holidays.

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
Great composition, I like the way my eyes follow the lines of the boat up to the bird and then out on the water. The light is really beautiful too. Great shot!
Viewed in thumbnail on the gallery page I didn't see the bird and thought your title went well with the stance and attitude of the boat. It still does. I think you waited untill just the right moment here on the colors of the landscape.
