To me your narrative doesn't justice (mainly the humble word 'attempt') to the quality and artistry of this photograph, Sandi.

Although not easy to capture such a subject matter, the result is beyond any expectation, my friend. Excellent work!

Sandi - This is so very effective. Like images on our retina, upside-down, the glass ball flips the scene. So, the ball flips the scene that our retina sees right-side up, the our brain flips it upside-down. Now, my head hurts. :-)

After all of Thad's spinning around upside down I'm dizzy! LOL But this is excellent and an interesting way to capture a scene.

Very interesting type of work. Does a person ever get it right side up?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I think this is a cracker of a shot -- I love the way the textures, colours, light and shade all balance each other out, with clear, bright focus in the centre of the globe. Really nice work. :-)

This is a lovely shot Sandi. It's interesting to me that you tried this composition, I was wondering if anyone had photographed gazing balls, which used to be common in gardens. Perhaps give it one of those M.C. Escher perspectives of looking into the ball and the ball looking back at you. Keep on experimenting.

It looks as though you have "turned the world [a globe] on its head", Sandi. The dictionary interprets that statement as "To innovate or alter something, such as a field or activity, in an unexpected or unprecedented way." It's cool that you're showing us a small but different way of looking at the world.

Sandi, this is an excellently executed technical trick, and you've composed it so that it's well balanced with a clear focus but lots of interesting details and variation around it to make it more than just a cool trick you've shot. Very nicely done!

I like the focal point of the globe and how it concentrates the light and focus. The colors and overall effect are magical...and the contrast of the material of the base and the translucent glass is sublime!
