I had a great show of Harlequin Flowers this Spring. Their botanical name is Sparaxis tricolour. Once you have them they are there for ever as the corms multiply like mad and seem to thrive on neglect. Mine have been appearing every year for about 30years. I pull them out by the handful to keep them in check. I think the conditions this year must have suited as there are more than ever. This is just one small clump. Maybe they like drought - we had the driest November on record !

I don't know if you have leafy spurge in your neck of the woods, Lyn, but here it's a noxious weed, the bane of framers and ranchers. It is, however, rather pretty under certain circumstances... Nature is forever surprising. Thank you for another fine example of that.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
