I took, only on this occasion, the freedom to change Manic Monday into Magic Monday. I took this image primary not from photographic but interesting point of view. Depicted is, almost hidden in a lush green environment, a so called 'Fairy Circle'. I'm not an expert in 'shrooms', but think that they are the 'Clitocybe Nebularis' species. This name is almost a tongue-breaker so it's commonly named as the 'clouded agaric' or 'cloud funnel'.

I think the English version is 'Fairy' circle .....

like wee dancing fairies and goblins rockin' & rollin' among the Fungi!

\good find this also has some great contrasts!...

Manic or Magical indeed!

A small mistake of mine Bob. I've changed 'Fairly Circle' into the correct name 'Fairy Circle' in title and narrative. I've read as well that a alternative name for it is 'Fairy Ring'.

Cornelius - A most interesting find. I am familiar with the ring of dark grass on a lawn area, but not the visible circle of mushrooms. Thad

An interesting discovery, Cornelius. If they are not lethal, I can use them in a nice risotto this evening!

We have a few trees here that tend to have a circle of mushrooms around them at certain times of the year also - I think it has something to do with their root growth. It does seem a fairy circle and has always intrigued me. Good shot Mr. C.

We have the same phenomenon in my part of the world, SEA.
The fairies must be worldwide.
Sometimes they are larger circles and located in pastures.
When that happens, the bulls get in the circle, square off and find out who's boss. I might be exaggerating a tad. :)
Good post.

Hoi John,

Hartelijke groet, Cornelius.

What a magnificent find and keen eye, I've never seen one of these before, now I know what to watch for in the late spring and summer. Are these Fairy Rings magical? ;-)

Really like the rich colour and detail. Happy New Year & Great Health to you my dear friend

Definitely a "fairy circle" Mr C. And following your link I see that they are edible. There's one here that looks very much like this type that definitely isn't for eating. In mine (or rather, my wife's) there's another of the bulbous shrooms in the background. I wasn't aware of the rings until I did a little research last night, so, the next time I'm out in the woods, I'll have to open my eyes a little more and take a little more time to study what's actually going on at ground level. Thanks for the link and the excellent capture.
