This, on the bow mounted, carved figure is the figurehead of the Russian frigate (replica) Shtandart, while moored in Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

A figurehead was meant to act as lookouts and to lead the sailors safely on their way. In the days when the original Shtandart was built, one thought that a frightening figurehead should eliminate the in the sea living demons.

Now it's my entry for Manic Monday, lol.

That is a galleon figure enough to scare pirates away with teeth that only a hippo has! Good one for this Monday Cornelius.

Mr. Sea - When I see the maze of lines and pulleys on an old ship, and think that each has a specific name to better ensure accurate maneuvers of the ship at sea, I wonder if I'd ever be able to remember then all. But, with this frightening face at the fore, to stare down every wave, I might feel safer. As always, your masterful work with the camera is shown well!

The figurehead has a feared look on his brow on the prow of the bow, SEA. Such intricate detail the carved in the frigate. Craftsmanship such as this is a lost art in many parts of the world.
Great capture.

Viewed from a substantial distance the face reminds a little the lovely Boris face ... My beast misses one and half canines [teeth that is :)].
Nothing to fear much, dear SEAS.
