I suppose that if you've a garden, it isn't fenced this way, 😁 !

In fact it isn't a garden but a small park downtown Brussels in the Brussels 'Petit Sablon' area.

In this 'open air museum' one can find pillars integrated with the fences on which are standing 48 statues representing people having all kind of medieval and later professions. In the center of this small park there's a statue of the 16th century counts named 'Comtes d'Egmont' and 'de Hornes' as well (on this picture it can be seen partly). Around the statue of the Comtes d'Egmont and de Hornes are in a half circle 10 white marble statues of heroes who fought against Spanish tyranny or intellectuals and scientists from the 16th century, e.g. the in that time important humanists Mercator and Ortelius.

PS: this picture was taken on August 21th, 2022.

It is good to see people who made history. Unlike us, many feel all people in history are evil. We can learn from these statutes both the good and bad. I wish we had more statues as they may help educate us about the past.

An exceptional view in all regards. The ancient architecture well captured with the skyscraper in the background just makes this an interesting composition. And, of course, I dig history so your descriptions are always a learning moment.

I love those decorative railings, the copper patina on the statues (that turn them green), the exquisite detailing on the statue pillars, and the perfect gradual upward angle of the entire scene, creating those long triangles below the railings, and forcing each set of railings to create a visual set of stairs. A helluva lot of thought and creativity went into this spot and the photographer found just the right angle from which to capture and exhibit it. Then again, I've been a sucker for repetitive lines and shapes since I was a mote (I think). A definite fave and save.
