While I was in St. Louis Missouri, (2017, Oct) we went to the gorgeous church called: Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. This gorgeous church was declared a Basilica in 1999 when Pope John Paul II visited there. There are 3 things that has to be meet before any catholic church can be declared by the Pope as a Basilica.
All the interior is covered in Mosaic: In 1912, installation of mosaics in the interior began. Completed in 1988, the mosaics collectively contain 41.5 million glass tesserae pieces in more than 7,000 colors. Covering 83,000 square feet (7,700 m2), it is the largest mosaic collection in the world. Took a total of 77 years to complete.
I'll post the whole view of the main area maybe tomorrow or evey one up close of the work about the main altar. Hope I'm not boring you with my trip to Missouri.
You have to see it to believe all the fabulous work, it's truly Breathe Taking. The whole place seems to just shimmer.
Trying to play catch up on viewing and commenting on most.
Thank you for your time and comments are appreciated.
Happy Sunday Everyone, ♥ Skates ♥
