While I was in St. Louis Missouri, (2017, Oct) we went to the gorgeous church called: Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. This gorgeous church was declared a Basilica in 1999 when Pope John Paul II visited there. There are 3 things that has to be meet before any catholic church can be declared by the Pope as a Basilica.

All the interior is covered in Mosaic: In 1912, installation of mosaics in the interior began. Completed in 1988, the mosaics collectively contain 41.5 million glass tesserae pieces in more than 7,000 colors. Covering 83,000 square feet (7,700 m2), it is the largest mosaic collection in the world. Took a total of 77 years to complete.

I'll post the whole view of the main area maybe tomorrow or evey one up close of the work about the main altar. Hope I'm not boring you with my trip to Missouri.

You have to see it to believe all the fabulous work, it's truly Breathe Taking. The whole place seems to just shimmer.

Trying to play catch up on viewing and commenting on most.

Thank you for your time and comments are appreciated.

Happy Sunday Everyone, ♥ Skates

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Whoah!!! My very exclamation upon opening this. I see so many photos on this site that are juuuuust about dead center, or almost symmetrical, or nearly at 90 degrees... but this really is. What amazes me is that you managed to do it with all that unbelievable detail staring you in the face. Not only that but you shot it at a perfect 35mm so there is no distortion at all and it's perfectly level. I've sat here and studied it for a while now and you set up in exactly the right spot, at perfect level, at the perfect mm setting. How the hell did you do that, Pat? Whoah!!! [oh, and by the way, this is one fantastic subject for a photo op.]

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

My comment can be very brief this time, Pat, because you've provided me (and probably the other Caedes friends as well) with an image according to my heart: S+F instantly!
Thanks for that, my friend!

I remember this beautiful place from the services/funeral for Stan Musial, Skates. I wasn't there, but it was on TV.
Thanks for sharing this magnificent photo.
