Blue Christmas

Started in the summer and saved until the holidays. We don't get blue hydrangeas up here in the mountains the way our cousins down by the ocean do...something to do with the chemical makeup of the New England soil, so when I found this one, it was a real treat. I thought of Christmas even back in July and saved this one out!

When I saw only the title of your image PJ, I was thinking of the famous Christmas song of late Elvis the King. Your image don't give, however, a sad but a joyful feeling. A blue (literal) Christmas indeed. Just wonderful!

I love hydrangeas. I like how the sunlight lights it up ~ just like Christmas lights on a tree. Beautifully captured PJ.

The flower looks like it is trying to hide behind the leaves. I will have to put the icons on the other side of the desktop as not to hide it any further. LOL. Very pretty, PJ.

Glad you saved it for now... I can feel the warmth of the sun. The blue of the hydrangea nestled in all its deep green leaves makes for a superb composition. (none of my hydrangea shots came out this past year, at least not like this one) Well done, my friend. ;-)))

I think the color has to do with the acidity of the soil, PJ. The more acid the soil, the pinker the color. I know the ones on Cape Cod are really very blue. I have a blue one that gave me one large bloom the first year I planted it and hasn't bloomed since. That's a different problem. The clarity and the dof on this one is so nice. I really am a big fan of blue hydrangeas.

My favourite of all the flowers, and this is a lovely depiction. I'm not sure about Jan's idea of nailing them down - but this one's so pretty perhaps you should before someone steals it!
