This is miners castle, that sits on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This was my favorite spot, and when I looked down towards the shoreline, the different colors of the water was stunning.

There is a boat ride that you can take that will run by the rocky cliffs edge, and even takes you under some rocky overhangs. A sunset ride would be awesome, and I do hope to go back, and take that ride.

There is no access to go out to the rocky outcrop.

Thanks for your comments.

Not an easy climb for the elderly. Did you go any further? I suppose not. Nice view against brightly lit water.

Yes, a very lovely place and you captured the sky, the lake, and the calm of the day, so very well.

The lake looked pretty calm and it made for a great capture.

Difficult lighting conditions for this 'against the light' shot, but done very well anyhow, Sandi.
The well chosen vantage point make the combination with the impressive rock and the surrounding glistening
water to a very special one.
Kudos, my friend 👍

I see why this is a favorite spot. The rock outcropping stands like a sentinel on the lake shore.

Heavens to Betsy, what an incredible scene you have captured, and I must be quite honest the lighting and details are simply mind-blowing!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Oh, yeah... we visited here in 2001, about a month before the 9/11 disaster, and I remember the "Castle" well... a truly cool place, from which, looking off to the east, we could see a waterfall project from the cliff face and drop into Superior (did you happen to follow the trail to that stream in the woods?). The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, on the shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, was a real wonder to see. We stayed in a motel on the east side of Munising and I sat on the jetty wall, watching my wife and 16-year-old son wade about a quarter mile out into the bay, the late-day sun dappling gold all around them (dang! no camera back then!).

Have a fun and safe 4th, Sandi, with friends and family surrounding you. Happy Trails!
