Caedes.net server gets a holiday

Over the weekend, there was an explosion at the datacenter where caedes is hosted (The Planet). It knocked out all the power to the building and a couple of walls, but none of the computers were damaged (other than having their power uncerimoniously disconnected). Total downtime was a bit over 24 hours.

I certainly hope no one was in the datacenter or injured when the explosion occurred. :(

What with the Caedes downtime Saturday night? and yesterday, I googled Caedes.net to try to find an explanation but instead found a site that allows you to see how Caedes used to appear (from its inception). It's kind of an interesting voyage!

Thought our galleries were lost forever for a while, and also realised how a part of my life caedes has become! Sad eh?

The emails were flying fast & furious but luckily the nervous breakdowns were all avoided ! ;oD

Nobody was injured by the explosion, but several people were hospitalized due to severe withdrawal symptoms from not being able to log on to Caedes.net

I hope no one was injured and I understand the upset it caused to a whole lot of ppl...but to tell you the truth, I thought it was a portent of the changes you talked about and in the meantime I created a spectacular pic on another site...one door closes and another one opens and it is up to us to take full advantage...

The datacenter is using generator power while they rebuild the electrical room. The plan right now is to have another outage on either Saturday June 7th or 14th at midnight Houston time when they switch over to the rebuilt electrical room. They are expecting a 4 to 6 hour downtime if everything goes right. The people at the Planet are doing an amazing job at recovering from this disaster. If they hadn't gone to generator power, the datacenter would still be down. 9000 servers, man that's got to take a heck of a lot of juice to run!

Thanks for the feedback. In the first place glad that there were no injuries and in the second place glad that Caedes is back 'in the air' again! Operating the vacuum cleaner isn't a great pastime, lol.
