Low c-index scores Homtail 09/13/09 1:53 PM GMT Ive recently been posting a lot of images i took from my holiday in Rome and have been surprised by the very low c-index scores they have achieved. I know im not by any means a good photographer but the comments i have recieved have been very complimentary and the average c-score i am recieving is averaging at a 4 or less and so do not reflect the comments. I know that i shouldnt put too much emphasis on the c-index but the above situation is confusing and not helping me improve as a photographe http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2750176

The New Apophysis Released Today, 8/7/08 !!!! laurengary 07/27/08 4:33 PM GMT Hello fellow Apophysis-ians !!! Or whatever. ;oD Just to let you all know, I hear the next release of Apophysis, Apophysis 2.08, will be out on August 8th. Which means that your current Apophysis, 2.07 will time out then. Why they do this I don't know, personally I find it extremely irritating that they can't come up with another stable Apophysis like 2.02 but that's just me I guess. Anyway, one of the things I've heard is that supposedly they've managed to fix the plug-in folder limitation.. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=2256613
Bugs regmar 05/13/08 3:10 PM GMT I was shooting some wildlife the other day when the midday sun began to get to me. Finding some shade I sat down in some tall grass to cool down. While sitting I began to shoot some of the insects I saw around me, and I was reminded of something I knew to be true, but hadn't thought of. When you're outdoors insect wildlife is everywhere. If you just sit for ten minutes they begin to come out, and it becomes difficult to choose among the fascinating subjects. black and white tips, anybody? sa_angela_sta 10/16/06 5:11 AM GMT I'll admit to being a very amateur photographer as I dont spend nearly enough time out and about with my camera, which is a Canon EOS Elan. I just recently tried my hand at black and white photography, but i've really got no clue on how to use light to my advantage, as I've always been one to find something I feel would make a great picture and take it. I discovered quite recently that this theory doesn't work as well with black and white film. So does anybody have any tips/hints for me, or ma http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1141047

Future Adobe Products. philcUK 08/23/06 9:45 PM GMT Adobe has a facility available in their support forums for users to suggest improvements and new features for their products. So if you want better auto masking in Photoshop (and who wouldn’t) or better support for different colour processes such as opaltone or hifi etc etc – then this is the place to go.…. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=1023605

Guestbook Samatar 04/26/06 2:44 AM GMT I need a new guestbook for my site that will prevent spambots from leaving messages. I haven't been able to find anything suitable yet though. Anyone have any reccomendations? http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=777210

Naturally I would go for blue but thought I could get some info' on what effects the other two will have. I will be grateful for any help what so ever, or any tips on metering for bright skys. Screen Calibration kjh000 10/27/05 7:42 AM GMT I've discussed this in the past with some of you and revived my thoughts about it in a series of PMs with a friend here. I submitted an image I made yesterday, called B&W Calibration. This image will not help with the sorry business about setting colors per se on screens for obvious reasons... ^_^ My hope is that it could help in setting the right level of brightness or in other words, white and black point. ePaperPress has got a great page on the subject. I've borrowed the idea of using those http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=528979

Black & White Digital Photography philcUK 08/04/05 4:18 PM GMT I know that shooting in RAW mode in colour creates a slightly better image quality as there is more colour space per pixel due to the lack of compression, but does it work like that if you set your DSLR to Monochromatic i.e. do you get better detail if the camera puts all it's efforts into it rather than just switching a colour image to black and white yourself in post process? http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=447894

Pop-up adverts scionlord 07/26/05 9:16 PM GMT These are a major problem. I have pop-up blocker on Secure IE, but these are coming up on IE. If I shut them down, as soon as I click to another page, I get kicked out, so I have to login everytime. The only way to stay logged in, is to keep the pop-up open....which is a major pain. Can you change the adverts please? http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=439418
do I have to be good? LostInMN 06/17/05 12:02 AM GMT Hi all. I've been looking at the site for a couple months now, and I just decided to join. I have a couple questions. All the work on this site is amazing, and I'm wondering if I have to be good? I'm not a serious photographer or anything, I just like to play around. All I have is a regular digital camera. Nothing fancy. I have a couple pictures that I like to think are cool, but I don't know if they really are. Also, I'm just curious how people go about making all these cool digital pie http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=409215

SNAPSHOT FRACTALS Radjehuty 04/07/05 6:06 AM GMT }--SEE BOTTOM FOR UPDATED DISCUSSION--{ Hey, I really think that the "Snap-shot" rule for photography should also extend (to an extent) to the fractal gallery. Not to insult anyone, but I've really noticed that there are fractal images that litterally just pop out of the program without any layering or manipulation done to them. Seems to me that when a fractal is Just out of the program, it is basically a snap-shot of the formula. Maybe there should be something of mention here? }--SEE BOTT http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=352953
Adobe Creative Suite CS2 philcUK 04/06/05 2:39 PM GMT Looks like Adobe have really gone to town with this upgrade especially in Photoshop which has acquired a lot of new and useful tools for photo editing and manipulation, notably they seam to have incorporated a Neat Image style tool. On past performance I'd hazard a guess they've licensed this from Neat Image and integrated it into their own product to save development time. Or they may have just ripped it off. Who can say. Negative Comments vs. Positive Critique RobNevin 02/24/05 12:58 AM GMT There has been a reasonable discussion in another thread entitled "Afraid to Give Negative Comments" somewhat related to this posting. In this thread, which can be as short as the energy on the topic, I pose the simple question: • Is there a difference between a Negative Comment and a Positive Critique? Please consider whether the outcomes are equal in your response. Examples are invited. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=324621
Vue 5 Infinite philcUK 02/21/05 9:18 PM GMT Just had a scout around Eon's website looking at the upcoming release of Vue 5 Infinite and it made me think of two things. First - why I dislike Terragen so much largely due to it's limited generic and somewhat bland interpretations of nature and secondly, made me wish I was still in education so I could buy it for a third of the RRP. damned students :-) Some of the examples they have on show are mind boggling especially the mega polygon count rock face and trees. awesome stuff indeed. http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=323203

Rant: Wheres the free stuff?? noobguy 10/08/04 12:41 AM GMT It seems like everything you find related to computers has to be payed for now. Its getting to be ridiculous. Free good software has become almost a foreign concept it seems. I remember not too long ago (please dont make me feel old) that programmers gave out most of their software for free and the only programs that you had to pay for were from the major software corporations, and people stuck to earning money with their JOBS. But now if Joe Schmoe takes 5 minutes to write a PoS tic-tac-toe kno http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Board::Topic&id=238948
